The American University in Cairo provides a comprehensive transportation plan that facilitates the commute to and from the new campus for faculty, staff and students. The buses run on 17 routes from Zamalek, Tahrir Square, 6th of October, Maadi, Heliopolis, Nasr City, Giza, Agouza, Mohandiseen & Doqqi, El Rehab, Mokattam & New Cairo, and Shoubra. Locations balance access to nearby users with proximity to the most efficient routes to the new campus and space for bus parking.

The shuttle buses leave from these various pick-up points in the Cairo metropolitan area and transport faculty, staff and students to campus; the return buses stop at the same locations. The buses run hourly during normal peak periods and less frequently during off-peak hours. The extended service into the evening supports all members of the AUC community who have a need or desire to use the facilities that are on the new campus beyond the normal teaching or working day. The service will accommodate riders who may need to leave the campus between regularly-scheduled departures to attend to family emergencies.

Annual or semester bus passes are available to all current students. For staff and faculty, they only show their AUC ID to get in the bus The transportation plan is a major priority to the university the complete program costs the university millions of dollars annually. This cost is not covered entirely by fares, but will be subsidized by parking fees on the new campus and the university.

  Complete the online registration form to create a new account.

  Choose your route.

  After registering, choose your route with one click.
• 

  Receive a confirmation email.

  Shortly after choosing your route you will receive an email confirming your registration on our site, please proceed to the Student Service Center to pay your deposit and reserve your bus pass.

  Pay your deposit.

  To guarantee your spot you will need to pay either a LE 500 deposit or the full price at the Student Services Center or simply pay online. Once you have done this your pass is confirmed and your spot will be reserved with our transportation provider for the fall.

  Create your weekly bus schedule.

  The final step to ensure that you have a spot in the fall is to create your weekly bus schedule by selecting when you want to arrive at and leave from the new AUC campus each day. Only AFTER you complete this step will you be emailed a final email that needs to be printed off and can be used to board the bus the first week of classes.
• 

  Pay the remainder.

  Pay the remaining LE 2700 to finalize your bus pass for the year and receive your permanent bus pass. Once you have done this your pass is reserved with our transportation provider for the entire year and you can ride the bus past the first week.
